Hampshire Supreme Sausage Champion 2013
No stranger to awards the title of Supreme Sausage Champion 2013 was awarded to Martin Martindale of Greenfield Pork Products. Martin also won the title when the competition was last held in 2010. He was pleased with the result:
“We’re delighted to have won the title of Supreme Sausage Champion 2013! I’m pleased for my son Tom for winning the Speciality Pork Sausage category for his chilli and garlic sausage too. The competition is really important to us as it helps us to gain local recognition. The feedback from the judges is really useful in helping us move forward and make our products even better. It’s a lot of work getting prepared for the competition but it’s worth it, I find it easiest to work on my entries at night when the business is closed. We’ll be celebrating tonight though!”
Martin & Dawn Martindale, with their son Tom, run a small outdoor breeding (est. 1990) herd on 20 acres of rented arable land near Over Wallop, Hampshire. The 85 sow breeding herd uses a ‘Hampshire’ based female which is mated with Large White boars to produce pork pigs of outstanding quality and flavour. All our pigs are born and reared outside in spacious paddocks which allow them to behave naturally and to grow in conditions which provide fresh – air, natural daylight, exercise and of course the minimum of stress.
Championed by local TV Chef James Martin, mentioned on Radio 2’s Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show and on BBC1’s Country Tracks, Greenfield’s award winning sausages are village favourites and its very rare that any sausages are left by the end of the weekend!
